Windshield Wiper Fluid vs. Tap Water

There are some people out there who think that windshield wiper fluid is not a necessity and that they can use regular tap water to do the same job. This is simply not the case.

While it is true that water will clean a windshield, water does not have the anti-freeze in it that windshield wiper fluid has. This means that if you are in an area, or are planning to drive to an area, that is going to have cold temperatures, then there is a good chance that the water will freeze. This will not only damage the system but will also make it impossible to clean the windshield. When water freezes, it expands and the windshield wiper fluid reservoir can be cracked along with any fittings or hoses.

We here at Weikert Ford Inc. in Lake Wales, Florida want you to avoid the pitfalls of using water in your windshield wiper fluid system. Instead, take the time out to use proper windshield wiper fluid.
